🐼 How Does A Vtec Engine Work
HONDA V-Tec OperationDescribes the operation of the HONDA V-Tec variable valve timing system. Like never seen before, this animation goes into details on the
For the engine to gain HP AT the point of vtec actuation the dyno graph would have to have a vertical line at that rpm. No dyno is going to show this. Take a look at this dyno chart provided by ComptechUSA. At vtec actuation, the line HP "acceleration" becomes steeper but does not go vertical thus there is no instantaneous HP gain of anywhere
Not all VVT uses the same method for varying timing. VTEC is trademarked by Honda and it varies the lift by using different cam lobes. You can vary the lift without changing the valve timing and you can also vary the timing using the same lobe, without changing the lift by using a phaser. Different manufacturers choose different methods.
Unlike Honda’s VTEC system, which produces noticeable changes in the engine’s power output, the advance or retardation of the valve timing on non-Honda engines occurs seamlessly, and most drivers are unable to detect the change in an engine’s power output if the oil control solenoids work as designed. How Does the Valve timing control
3-stage VTEC. Three-stage VTEC is a multi-stage implementation of Honda's VTEC and VTEC-E (colloquially known as dual VTEC) technology, implemented in some of the company's D series engines from 1995 to the present day, allowing the engine to achieve both fuel efficiency and power. VTEC-E (for "Efficiency") is a form of VTEC that closes off one
VTEC is Honda's variable valve technology used to change the amount of valve lift and valve duration in the engine. By altering valve lift and duration, you

The lost motion assembly in your DOHC Honda engine is a preloaded spring device that keeps your VTEC lobe from rattling when unlocked. Older Hondas use a fluid based lost motion assembly that hydraulically keeps your VTEC valvetrain in place. Later B series VTEC engines made the jump to a spring type spring system, that was far more reliable
Honda does still use VTEC, but it’s no longer present in the same way as in the days of yore. It’s normally accompanied by a turbocharger and in the case of the Civic Type-R, the VTEC camshaft is located on the exhaust side of the engine, not the intake side as in previous renditions.
The Honda Element features an i-VTEC four-cylinder engine. How does the Honda R18A SOHC i-VTEC work? With the R18A SOHC i-VTEC mechanism, Honda’s R&D engineers introduced the idea of controlling the amount of air entering the combustion chamber via other means instead of the throttle butterfly. This is done via a combination of both valve
Buffalo, NY. Feb 28, 2008. #4. Whelp, after some driving in our new Odyssey with the same drivetrain as the Pilot, I am very impressed with the 3.5L VTEC. Tons of silky smooth power, good MPGs and as you say, you rarely hear of issues with the 3.5L itself.
Doesn't matter how you do it, a V6 running on 3 cylinders is not a recipe for success, and if you don't believe me, go disconnect your rear 3 coil packs, start the engine, and see for yourself. VCM-3 isn't even close to being the same as pulling the coils. The vacuum issue cannot be addressed without completely changing the implementation of VCM.
